I have a Toshiba Satellite laptop E45t-A4300.

Sometimes the Touchpad needs to recalibrate itself to ensure an accurate operation. It's an Alps pointing device, 8.201.1611.249 In System Information, then Components, then Problem Devices, the pointing devise shows up, as "Lenovo pointing device", with message "This device is not present, is I desperately need this to be fixed as I have a deadline for report cards and can't write them on I-pad... Once more, if you have tried both and it doesn't work, do not give up! Try to make a Bios update with the help of an external keyboard (if it is working) and check if your internal keyboard is working after thisfirmware update. Once you have entered BIOS or CMOS setup, check the hardware device settings and if the touchpad is disabled, re-enable it and restart the laptop to test the touchpad. If the lights remain on or off after pressing the keys several times, then the computer is likely frozen.
